Esse é o pensamento do nosso time agora – analisou o volante do Madureira.

Newcastle give Schar new contract

Newcastle United journalist Scott Wilson has been left thrilled by the news that Fabian Schar has now signed a new contract at St. James’ Park.

The Lowdown: Two-year deal

As per The Northern Echo, Schar has now signed a new two-year deal in the North East, which will keep him at the club until 2024.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/newcastle-news-6/” title=”Newcastle news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

His contract was going to run out in the summer, but after successful talks, the board and the player have decided that he should remain on Tyneside.

Upon signing the deal, Eddie Howe said that Schar is a ‘hugely important’ player in the dressing room, and that he has been ‘delighted’ with his form.

The Latest: Wilson reacts

Taking to Twitter, Wilson was thrilled when the news came out, claiming that it is the first ‘big’ bit of summer business that the Magpies have completed:

“The good news keeps on coming for #NUFC as Fabian Schar signs a new two-year deal. First big piece of summer business completed…” The Verdict: Deserved

Given his form, Schar is certainly deserving of his new deal. He has been a mainstay in the team that have changed their fortunes around since the turn of the year, which has seen them all but guarantee their safety in the Premier League for another season.

Compared to his teammates, the Switzerland international has ranked highly in terms of average interceptions, clearances, blocks, passes and long balls per match, while also contributing a handy two goals and two assists from the back (WhoScored).

Nonetheless, this is news that would have come as music to the ears of the Toon Army.

Burnley chiefs eye ‘excellent’ new manager

Burnley chiefs have allegedly set their sights on a trophy-winning boss as news from a Football Insider source emerges on the club’s manager hunt.

The Lowdown: Dyche era ends…

After nearly ten years with the Lancashire side, club legend and long-serving boss Sean Dyche was unceremoniously sacked by Burnley – much to the bemusement of outsiders.

Dyche previously lead the Clarets to a plethora of successive seasons in England’s top flight, avoiding the Championship drop on an arguable shoe-string budget when compared to some of the Premier League’s elite.

The 50-year-old departs Burnley amid their fierce battle with fellow relegation-strugglers Everton as they tussle with the Toffees and aim to maintain their first tier status.

Frank Lampard’s men currently stand a point above in 17th with one game in hand as Burnley hierarchy also work on appointing Dyche’s heir behind-the-scenes.

The Latest: ‘Burnley source’ shares Carvalhal news…

According to a ‘Burnley source’, speaking to Football Insider, former Swansea City boss and current SC Braga coach Carlos Carvalhal is a contender to become their new manager.

The 56-year-old is apparently being eyed ‘within the corridors of power’ at Turf Moor as club chiefs begin to hold a real interest in his possible appointment.

The Verdict: Ideal candidate?

While it is difficult to truly replace Dyche given his iconic status and marvellous job with the club before leaving, we believe Burnley officials could do far worse than Carvalhal.

As shared by journalist Miguel Delaney of The Independent, his ‘stunning’ tactics have taken Portugal by storm in recent seasons.

Carvalhal has received glowing endorsements from big name boss Jose Mourinho in past years, who called his compatriot ‘the manager of the season’ back in 2018.

He has also won trophies – clinching the Taça de Portugal trophy with Braga last season.

The Europa League quarter-finalist has also been called an ‘excellent manager’ by journalist Alex Goncalves, who is the founder of Portuguese football news website TugaScout.

Carvalhal, going by all of these facts, certainly stands out as a credible candidate.

Kevin Pietersen has, as expected, been dropped by England for the first time in his career and will play out the rest of the season while on loan with Surrey, after the selectors announced two squads of 12 and 14 players respectively for the two-Twenty20 and five-ODI NatWest Series against Pakistan that gets underway at Cardiff on Sunday.Craig Kieswetter, the Man of the Match in the World Twenty20 final in Barbados back in May, has also been dropped from the 50-over squad following a loss of form during the mid-season internationals against Australia and Bangladesh. He has retained his place for the T20s, but his wicketkeeping role has been passed over to Surrey’s Steven Davies, who takes the role in both formats ahead of the Test incumbent, Matt Prior.Pietersen, who has fallen out with his county Hampshire after announcing his intention to leave at the end of the season, will play for Surrey until the end of the season, following a loan agreement between Hampshire and Surrey at the request of the England Team management and the ECB. He will play his first match for Surrey on Wednesday, a CB40 fixture against Worcestershire at The Oval, although he was not amused at the decision as he prematurely revealed in a rant on the social networking site, Twitter:”Done for rest of summer!! Man of the World Cup T20 and dropped from the T20 side too. Its a f**k up!!,” Pietersen posted on his account kevinpp24, before deleting it minutes later, but not before it had been picked up by several users and circulated around the internet.Several hours later, his official, ECB-sanctioned, reaction was more measured: “While I’m naturally disappointed to have been omitted from the England squad I fully understand the reasons why and will be doing everything I can to get back into the England team,” he said.”I have no issue with the selectors omitting me from the limited-overs squads and my sole focus now is working on my game ahead of an exciting winter. I would also like to add my huge thanks to Surrey for giving me this opportunity and I hope I can repay them with some runs.”Geoff Miller, the national selector, said: “Kevin Pietersen has been omitted from both squads as we feel that his game would be best served by getting as much cricket under his belt as possible before a long and challenging winter.”The remainder of the county season is an ideal opportunity to do just that and we thank Surrey for enabling Kevin the chance to play and we thank both Surrey and Hampshire for facilitating the loan period for the remainder of the county season.”Kevin has proved on numerous occasions that he is a world class player and we know he’ll benefit from getting more time in the middle to work on his batting and get his game back to the level he has shown throughout his career.”Steven Davies has had an excellent year for Surrey this season and has earned his chance to take on the role as wicketkeeper in England’s limited overs set up. As ever the wicketkeeper’s role is a fiercely contested position in the England team and we’ve no doubt Craig Kieswetter will continue to press for the chance to reclaim his place in the England ODI squad.”England’s 50-over captain, Andrew Strauss, will line up for Middlesex’s CB40 fixture against Derbyshire on Saturday, September 4, before joining up with England’s one-day squad on Wednesday ahead of the first ODI at Chester-le-Street two days’ later. While Ajmal Shahzad has been selected in the NatWest Series squad he will be available to play for Yorkshire throughout the campaign when deemed suitable by the England management.Ryan Sidebottom will play the first half only of Nottinghamshire’s County Championship match against Durham from Tuesday before joining the England Twenty20 squad on Thursday in Cardiff, while Kieswetter will play in Somerset ‘s 50-over tour match against Pakistan at Taunton on Thursday.Meanwhile Ian Bell will also make his return from a foot injury with Warwickshire in their CB40 match against Nottinghamshire on Saturday, September 4.Twenty20 squad Paul Collingwood (capt), James Anderson,Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Steven Davies, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright, Michael Yardy.One-day squad Andrew Strauss (capt), James Anderson, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Steven Davies, Eoin Morgan, Ajmal Shahzad,Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott, Luke Wright, Michael Yardy.

Luke Wright, the Sussex and England allrounder, has signed with Wellington in New Zealand for their domestic Twenty20 tournament which runs throughout December.Wright wasn’t included in either England’s Ashes squad or the performance programme that will run alongside the full tour, but is still expected to be part of the one-day party for the latter part of the Australia tour and the World Cup.He has played 42 one-day internationals and 27 Twenty20s for England since making his debut in 2007 although isn’t a permanent fixture in the 50-over side where he averages 21.42 with the bat and 51.26 with the ball. During the recent one-day series against Pakistan he played two matches, hitting an unbeaten 48 at The Oval and claiming the key wicket of Kamran Akmal at the Rose Bowl. In Twenty20 internationals Wright has a batting strike-rate of 129.13.As with Ravi Bopara, who is joining the Dolphins in South Africa, Wright’s overseas stint means he’ll have plenty of match practice before the Twenty20 and one-day series against Australia in January. “Having played many games against New Zealand and touring with England two years ago, I know first hand the skill and toughness that Kiwis bring to the cricket field,” he said. “I’m keen to test myself alongside and against the best in their domestic competition.”Anthony Stuart, the Wellington coach, added. “I’m thrilled that Wellington has secured a player of Luke Wright’s quality. He is exactly the type of player who will complement the skill set of our players. We were looking for an exciting player who has the ability to win matches with both bat and ball and Luke will perform this role extremely well.”

West Ham: Moyes ‘on the case’ for Nunez

According to West Ham United insider Claret & Hugh, there has been a transfer update out of the club involving Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

The Lowdown: West Ham in Nunez race…

One of the most sought-after strikers in Europe right now, it is believed that David Moyes and the club are firmly in the mix to sign Nunez this summer.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-newest-updates/” title=”West Ham newest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Protected by a €150m (£125m) release clause, Benfica are actually willing to sell for around half of that amount, alerting some of the Premier League’s elite as they eye a seriously in-form attacker.

West Ham are joined in their interest by the likes of Spurs and Newcastle United according to some reports (Record via Sport Witness), with English champions Manchester City having also been mentioned.

Now, as per Claret & Hugh, it appears that Moyes has been personally setting his sights on the Benfica star ever since the Irons’ failed January bid.

The Latest: Moyes ‘on the case’ for Nunez…

According to the club insider, West Ham’s manager has been ‘on the case’ to sign Nunez as he personally works on a prospective transfer behind the scenes.

Claret & Hugh add that the 22-year-old is ‘keenly wanted’ by Moyes, who is ‘determined to land’ Benfica’s prolific forward.

The Verdict: Ambitious move…

Signing the Portuguese top-flight ace would be a hugely impressive West Ham coup given his ‘big name’ status and the sheer amount of competition for his signature.

GSB and the club will most likely have to smash their transfer record to sign Nunez, who has scored an extremely impressive 28 goals across 35 appearances in all competitions over 2021/22.

Taking to Twitter, journalist and Breaking The Lines writer Maxi Angelo perhaps highlights why Moyes is so interested, with his take on the ‘incredible talent’ who has continued to evolve this season.

It is no secret that West Ham may need to sign an alternative to sole striker Michail Antonio if they are to remain in among the Premier League’s best, and Nunez certainly looks like he fits the bill.

If the Hammers can get a deal done, it would certainly be a statement and a very ambitious move.
