A major update has emerged on Newcastle’s managerial pursuit, regarding Spanish head coach Unai Emery.

Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger has claimed that the Villarreal boss is now the favourite to replace Steve Bruce at St. James’ Park and the board are pushing to get a deal done for the Villarreal manager.

He wrote:

“Unai Emery favorite now to become the new manager of Newcastle United, sources telling @SPORT1. #NUFC board pushing as they want to present the former Arsenal boss in the next international break. @NUFC keen to pay a huge transfer fee to get Emery out of his Villarreal contract.”

This major update from Berger will surely leave Newcastle fans feeling ecstatic, for several reasons. Firstly, it shows that the board are willing to sanction big money to attract a good manager during the upcoming international break.

Supporters will want the situation to be resolved as quickly as possible to stop the gap between them and the rest of the clubs in the Premier League from growing larger, which is why they will be happy to see decisions being made. The board want to get it done within the next two weeks and are willing to spend the money in order to do so.

Secondly, they should be delighted by the prospect of Emery taking over in the dugout. He has proven his quality as a coach throughout his career, winning four Europa League trophies, two French Cups and one Ligue 1 title.

Last season, he led Villarreal to 7th in La Liga and the Europa League title while he has never finished lower than 9th in a campaign in his career. He was sacked by Arsenal as they sat eighth after 13 games in the 2019/20 season, but did lead the Gunners to fifth the previous year and the final of the Europa League – losing to Chelsea. Additionally, his experience of working with a wealth of cash at PSG should also be an appealing factor for the Toon Army.

This suggests that he has the quality as a manager to bring Newcastle up the table and push for a top-half finish in the long-term. He has also proven that he can set his side up to win trophies and Magpies fans should be excited by the thought of a long run in the FA Cup, for example, in the second-half of the season. Hopefully, PIF can now get this deal over the line ahead of the break.

كشفت شركة الرياضة السعودية “SSC” عن حصولها على الحقوق الحصرية لنقل بطولات كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين ودوري كأس الأمير محمد بن سلمان للمحترفين وكأس السوبر السعودي بداية من الموسم المقبل 2022-2023.

وأصدر الحساب الرسمي لشركة الرياضة السعودية SSC بيان رسمي جاء خلاله: “أعلنت رابطة الدوري السعودي للمحترفين والاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم، أنه إشارة إلى البيان الصادر من قبل بشأن طرح كراسة النقل التلفزيوني بداية من موسم 2022/ 2023؛ فقد تم توقيع اتفاقية حقوق النقل الحصري للبطولات لـ3 مواسم مع شبكة SSC الرياضية التابعة لشركة الرياضة السعودية”.

وتابع البيان: “وصلت قيمة العقد إلى 900 مليون ريال، ويمتاز العقد الجديد باتساع الرقعة الجغرافية للمسابقات عبر بثها في منطقة شمال إفريقيا والشرق الأوسط عن طريق قنوات SSC وباقة الرياضة على شاهد وGOBX”.

وأكمل البيان: “تعكس الاتفاقية التي تمنح شركة الرياضة السعودية حقوق البث الفضائي والرقمي لبطولة الدوري القيمة المرتفعة للمسابقات السعودية”.

وينتظر أن يتم نقل الدوري السعودي للمحترفين في الموسم المقبل من خلال 5 قنوات مختصة بكرة القدم السعودية، بالإضافة إلى نشرات إخبارية تعرض عبر قناة مفتوحة للمشاهدين، كما سيتم نقل المباريات مجانًا بتقنية SD، بالاضافة للنقل بتقنية HD عبر قنوات خاصة بالاشتراكات على GOBX ومنصة شاهد.

قرر الجهاز الفني لنادي الزمالك بقيادة البرتغالي جوسفالدو فيريرا استبعاد محمود حمدي الونش وسيف فاروق جعفر وأيمن حفني من قائمة الفريق لمباراة الإسماعيلي، التي ستقام غدًا الاثنين في بطولة كأس مصر.

ويحتضن استاد القاهرة مباراة الزمالك والإسماعيلي في إطار منافسات دور الـ16 من كأس مصر.

واستبعد فيريرا كل من أيمن حفني وسيف فاروق جعفر لوجهة نظر فنية.

جدير بالذكر أن الفائز من لقاء الزمالك والإسماعيلي سيتأهل لمواجهة المصري البورسعيدي في ربع نهائي كأس مصر.

Celtic are interested in a deal to bring Aaron Hickey to Parkhead in the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report by The Sun, who claim that both Ange Postecoglou’s side and Aston Villa are keeping tabs on the Bologna left-back ahead of a potential move for the 19-year-old in the winter market.

The report goes on to state that a number of other English clubs are interested in the defender, however, sources close to the player believe that the Scotland U21 international is happy in Italy.

Speaking about the interest in Hickey, Bologna sporting director Walter Sabatini said: “Hickey is a Bologna player, and despite the interest of many clubs, he will 100% remain here.

“Last season was a short one for him because of injury but he has already shown us the great qualities he possesses as a player. Bologna are betting a lot on him, and he stays with us.”

While the emergence of 19-year-old Adam Montgomery has eased Postecoglou’s concerns at left-back somewhat, with the injury to Greg Taylor initially looking to have left the Hoops somewhat short in the position, considering just how much potential Hickey appears to possess, it would be hard to argue that the teenager would not be a signing that the Greek-Australian manager would love to make.

Indeed, over his eight Serie A appearances so far this season, the £7.2m-rated man has helped his side keep one clean sheet and has scored two goals, as well as taking an average of 0.9 shots and making 0.5 key passes per game.

The £16k-per-week left-back has also impressed in metrics more typical of his position, making an average of one interception, 1.1 tackles, 0.5 clearances and winning 5.3 duels per fixture.

These returns have seen the 19-year-old who former Hearts manager Daniel Stendel dubbed an “extraordinary talent” – as well as suggesting he could go on to become the next Philipp Lahm – earn an average SofaScore match rating of 6.85, ranking him as Sinisa Mihajlovic’s joint 10th-best performer in the Italian top flight.

As such, should the opportunity arise, it would seem to be an extremely wise move for Postecoglou to do all he can to land the 19-year-old, as not even the sky looks to be the limit of the young defender’s potential.

Nuno Santo and his side will be looking to stop a run of three straight heavy defeats in the English top-flight later today and the Portuguese has many interesting selection dilemmas following their midweek win in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
