While speaking exclusively with Football FanCast, Carlton Palmer has urged Carlo Ancelotti to back Everton prospect Anthony Gordon over signing Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira.

Everton is believed to be in talks with Khedira over an 18-month contract that will see the German move to Goodison Park in the January transfer window. He is no longer needed at the Allianz Stadium, according to the Express.

The 33-year-old has been given permission to travel to England to meet with the Toffees earlier this week, with Juve desperate to offload Khedira’s £184,000-per-week contract ahead of the 2014 World Cup winner becoming a free agent in the summer.

Everton would need Khedira to take a drastic pay-cut to finalise a move to the Premier League, where his initial deal would feature an option to extend by a further year.

Ancelotti is thought to be confident the midfielder, who he worked with at Real Madrid, still has something to offer at an elite level, despite not playing a single game in any competition this season and making his last Juventus appearance more than a year ago due to injuries.

But former England international Palmer would disagree, and urges Ancelotti to put plans to sign Khedira on hold in order to offer space for Gordon to truly breakthrough into the Everton first-team.

“Yes. 100%, 100%. Khedira would be a gamble now.

“He’s been a top-draw player, no arguments about that, German international, won every honour in the game. But, for me, that’s a gamble. It’s a gamble paying a lot of money for a player who I don’t think has played 35 games in two and a half seasons,” Palmer told Football FanCast.

“It’s a lot of money for player, he’s proven experience. He’s proven that he’s got quality. But also, I think the one thing about Khedira, for me, in the Premier League [he] would find it difficult. He’s got good ability, good touch, but the pace of the game, I think the game would leave him behind.”

Khedira made 39 appearances across all competitions in the 2017/18 campaign but saw his game time reduce to 17 outings the following season and 18 last term, with injuries seeing his season end in November before being cast aside by new Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo.

The German won the 2013/14 Champions League under Ancelotti while the duo were at Real Madrid, before lifting five Serie A titles in Turin to add to previous success in La Liga, the Bundesliga, FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Ancelotti frequently trusted Khedira during his time in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, featuring 35 times outside of injuries, but is yet to back Gordon to a similar level with the 19-year-old starting only six of his 16 appearances to date and playing only 87 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.

AND in other news, Everton can reach a new level by signing a “complete” £31.5m-rated maestro in January.

Southampton will be hoping to pick up their third win in a row as they travel to North London to face Arsenal on Wednesday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s side have endured a shocking start to the 2020/21 Premier League season, as they currently sit in 15th position in the top-flight, having lost seven of their opening 12 fixtures.

The Gunners have also scored just twice in their last eight games in the Premier League, so considering Southampton’s impressive start to the season, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side will be full of confidence ahead of the game at the Emirates.

The Saints were excellent in their 3-0 win against Sheffield United last weekend but the performance of Nathan Redmond, in particular, could lead the Austrian to consider making changes to his starting line up.

Alex McCarthy keeps his place in goal and will fancy his chances of picking up another clean sheet against the goal-shy Gunners.

There’s one change in central defence, as Mohammed Salisu is handed his first start of the season, as the youngster’s pace could be key if the Saints are to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang quiet on Wednesday evening, with Jan Bednarek rested ahead of Saturday’s game against Manchester City.

Jannik Vestergaard will start alongside the youngster, having labelled the summer signing a “big talent” earlier this season.

Unsurprisingly, James Ward-Prowse and Oriol Romeu continue their partnership in midfield, with the two arguably undroppable if they continue their superb start to the season, which has seen them both rated in the top four Saints performers in the top-flight.

There’s one change on the left-hand side, as Nathan Redmond replaces Theo Walcott after he came off the bench to score an impressive goal in the win against Chris Wilder’s side on Sunday.

However, Walcott will surely want to start against the side where he spent much of his career, so don’t be surprised if he makes an impact from the bench should he be replaced by Redmond in the starting team.

Danny Ings and Che Adams could be the source of goals at the Emirates against an out-of-sorts Arsenal side, with their connection in attack likely to cause Arteta’s side problems.

It will be interesting to see how Hasenhuttl lines his team up on Wednesday and whether or not the Saints can pick up a win, but when considering the difference in form, you could definitely argue that Southampton are the favourites for Wednesday’s game.

Leeds will be on cloud nine after their midweek thriller against Newcastle gave them a well-deserved three points to hoist them further up the Premier League table. The Championship winners hit the Magpies for five goals, with five individual goal-scorers impressing on the night.

Their next test will come as they face Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford. It will be a very tasty affair as both sides are coming off the back of a hard-fought victory and neither will be prepared to drop points.

Marcelo Bielsa’s secret weapon comes in the form of Raphinha, who has been troublesome for the opposition down the right-hand side. Whilst he may have just the one Premier League goal so far this season, his ability to create chances and break down defences has been crucial for Leeds.

In his last outing against Newcastle, Raphinha made two key passes, completed 100% of his attempted long balls and 100% of his dribbles (via Sofascore). Comparing that to the performance of Alex Telles for Man United against Sheffield United, the defender could be in for a difficult game.

The Reds’ summer signing had a tough time against the Blades, losing the ball 24 times and struggling to create his usual sharp long-range passes from the backline. If Telles is up against a speedster like Raphinha, he could easily be forced into a mistake and runs the risk of losing possession just like he did at Bramall Lane.

Bielsa’s creative winger has attracted a lot of praise for his performances in his maiden Leeds season. Graeme Souness recently labelled him a “flair player” and lauded his work ethic both on and off the ball. The £27,000 per week playmaker has already shown his promising potential as a player the team has been crying out for to help Patrick Bamford break down tough opposition defences.

In other news, Radrizzani will be glad to offload Eunan O’Kane next summer…

The international break is the perfect opportunity for Rangers to take a breather and make vital decisions regarding their future. The departure of Pedro Caixinha happened in such a blur, with important matches coming quickly after, that thoughts of who would replace the Portuguese had to be put aside to allow caretaker boss Graeme Murty to focus on picking up points.

It’s still a job that can attract ambitious managers looking to make their mark on British football. Rangers are a big club, with a massive fanbase and a budget that should allow them to be a force in Scotland. A variety of names have been linked with the vacant position, from Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes to former England manager Steve McClaren and many in between.

One name that sparked a lot of speculation was Alan Pardew, who The Daily Mail reported he was actually in contact with the Scottish giants via his representatives about potentially taking over in the wake of Caixinha’s departure. The paper say that McInnes requires a £1m compensation fee, meaning he might be unavailable to the Light Blues, opening the door for the likes of Pardew to take over.

With no further word this week about who will be taking charge at Ibrox, that sort of link should be worrying indeed for Rangers fans. Giving  Alan Pardew the job would be a dreadful move, exactly the kind of manager they should be looking to avoid as they enter a new era. This is the most important appointment at the club in recent years and it’s vitally important they get it right.

Lacking credibility

Rangers don’t need managers with baggage and Alan Pardew has plenty of that. Having just gone through a period of off the pitch drama with Pedro Caixinha, from bizarre press conferences to touchline confrontations with rivals, the Light Blues should be looking for a manager who can rise above all that and focus on winning football matches. Pardew has a history of making headlines for all the wrong reasons, from headbutting players to bizarre criticisms of rival managers.

In the goldfish bowl of football in Glasgow, does he have the personality to cope with what is one of the most pressurised jobs in football? If the press liked fanning the flames with Caixinha, they’d absolutely love doing it with Pardew, knowing that headlines would be hear across Britian and not just north of the border. If he thinks his actions are scrutinised at clubs like Crystal Palace, it’s nothing compared the spotlight that is put on you as manager of either Celtic or Rangers.

The fans need an inspirational leader who will take a pragmatic approach to life at Ibrox both on and off the pitch and frankly Pardew lacks credibility in both regards. His last year at Palace rapidly unravelled, with his side drawn into battles that make excellent Match Of The Day fodder, but which would be a nightmare for a team who need stability and progression.

Premier League temptation

Names like Alan Pardew and Steve McClaren must be tempting indeed for decision makers at Ibrox. They are both managers who have experience of managing teams in the English Premier League, a division with a reputation as the pinnacle of club football management. They both have a profile beyond most of the managers that will be looking at the Ibrox position.

Across the city in Glasgow, Celtic appointed a manager with dwindling reputation in England that proved to be the most inspired appointment in recent Scottish football history, wouldn’t a name like Pardew similarly work out at Ibrox?

The truth is though, the last thing Rangers need is an ego who sees the Light Blues as a chance to keep themselves in the headlines. They need an up and coming boss, not one whose day has come and gone.

Most important of all, they need someone who focuses on football, the product on the pitch and someone who knows Scottish football like the back of their hand. For too long Rangers have dabbled in experiments, now they need to bank on a sure bet with a proven track record of delivering in the Scottish Premiership. Alan Pardew is about as far from that as imaginable.

وتجرى منافسات بطولة كأس العالم للأندية 2023، خلال الفترة من 12 ديسمبر الجاري وتستمر حتى يوم 22 من الشهر ذاته.

وتقام البطولة بمشاركة 7 أندية، وهي: “الأهلي، الاتحاد السعودي، أوكلاند سيتي النيوزيلندي، مانشستر سيتي الإنجليزي، أوراوا ريد دياموندز الياباني، ليون المكسيكي، وفلومينينسي البرازيلي”.

ويشارك الأهلي في منافسات كأس العالم للأندية باعتباره بطلًا لقارة إفريقيا بحصده لقب دوري الأبطال بالنسخة الأخيرة.

أما فريق اتحاد جدة، فيخوض غمار منافسات مونديال الأندية المقام في السعودية، باعتباره بطلًا للدوري المحلي للبلد المستضيف.
