Fulham strike agreement to sign "special" Premier League gem with Kevin

They left their business late, but Fulham are now set to sign a second attacking target late on, with an agreement reportedly reached to sign a Premier League gem.

Update on Kevin and Fulham

Marco Silva was finally handed some good news after an afternoon to forget at Stamford Bridge on Saturday when reports emerged that Fulham had reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Kevin. And whilst the Cottagers are still working on an agreement on personal terms, there’s no doubt that they are closing in on a top target ahead of the deadline.

Now that Fulham’s business is underway, Kevin may not be the only one to arrive. Fresh reports have indicated that the Cottagers have also revived a move for Raheem Sterling.

One of the most successful wingers in Premier League history, Sterling has endured a frustrating couple of years which wasn’t helped by a difficult loan spell at Arsenal last season. Now frozen out at Chelsea, he desperately needs the move that Fulham are seemingly attempting.

Of course, he wouldn’t be the first winger to revive the late stages of his career at Craven Cottage, either. Willian enjoyed two successful spells under Marco Silva and represents a fine example that Sterling should look to follow.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the deal, Fulham would be getting an experienced winger who has won all there is to win in English football.

With a matter of hours left until the transfer window slams shut, the West London club have burst into life and may yet welcome Kevin, Sterling and one other Chelsea gem before the deadline.

Fulham strike Tyrique George agreement

As reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Fulham have struck an agreement to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea in a late deadline day deal worth £22m, plus add-ons. The young forward looked destined for AS Roma before a move collapsed late on, allowing those at Craven Cottage to come swooping in.

The 19-year-old is destined for something “special” according to scout Jacek Kulig last season and it’s hard to argue with that verdict. The teenager scored three senior goals whilst assisting five more last season and will now be hoping that more game time at Chelsea’s West London rivals means more goal involvement.

The Cottagers have identified an “unbelievable” player as a leading target.

In two swift moves, Fulham look destined to welcome Kevin and George – two young attacking stars – whilst a deal for Sterling has reportedly been revived. All three would undoubtedly turn a disappointing window into one that is full of promise.

From BPL to Champions Trophy – Simmons wants 'that 50-over mentality' quickly

Najmul Hossain Shanto’s match-readiness and Nahid Rana’s pace are worries, but Simmons is hoping for things to fall in place in time

Phil Simmons looks pretty pleased with life ahead of the Champions Trophy•BCB

Bangladesh are cramming extra training sessions into their schedule in a bid to shift their mindset from T20Is to ODIs ahead of the Champions Trophy. Head coach Phil Simmons is confident that the players can get themselves accustomed to the format despite not playing an ODI since December. The BPL ended on February 7, and the following day, some of the players turned up at a training camp at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. These were mainly cricketers whose BPL teams had been knocked out before the final. The team will train in Dhaka till February 12, after which they leave for the Champions Trophy – their first match is against India in Dubai on February 20.”I agree that it is not the best preparation, but they were playing white-ball cricket, which means that they are sharp skills-wise,” Simmons said. “We have to get their minds up to 50-over cricket in the next six or seven days. They have the skills. They are performing. It is about getting to that 50-over mentality now. We will have double practice sessions in the next couple of days. We bat and bowl in the morning, and then do the same under the lights.Related

Taskin, Tamim headline the BPL team of the tournament

“We are getting ourselves prepared to bat for 50 overs. The first part of the preparation is about Dubai. Once we can get ourselves in the right frame of mind, and work on the right things for Dubai, I think we can start [preparations for] the rest the competition as well. We will get familiar conditions in Pakistan after that.”Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is a worry, particularly because he hasn’t played a lot in the last couple of months. Shanto missed the tour of the West Indies owing to a hamstring injury. His last international outing was in November last year. He returned with the National Cricket League T20s, and then played five games for Fortune Barishal in the BPL.”He was working very hard all of those days when he wasn’t playing,” Simmons said. “We are going to need a strong mental attitude from everyone in the team. I think he possesses that, so I look forward to him continuing his work.”Simmons admitted that Nahid Rana’s drop in pace towards the back-end of the BPL was a concern, but he was relieved since Rana has upped his pace in the training sessions.”He has looked slower than normal in the last couple of games. The run-up was less than normal approaching the wicket,” Simmons said. “They [Rangpur Riders] got knocked out early so he had a bit of rest. He looked sharp in training yesterday. The pace was coming back. The run-up was as quick as it was in the Caribbean.”This is Simmons’ last assignment in his current contract, and there are questions about the future. But Simmons wasn’t giving any clues.”I won’t be here if I didn’t believe [that we can win],” he said. “I think you prepare as best as you could when you go into a tournament. On that day, you play your best games. That’s what I look to do, on every occasion. I think we have made a lot of strides in the Caribbean. I think we have a good chance once we play to the best of our ability.”

Man Utd hatch plan to sign £120m star in Sancho swap deal, Amorim's pushing

Manchester United have now hatched a plan to sign an “exceptional” £120m star in a swap deal for Jadon Sancho, with Ruben Amorim pushing INEOS to get a deal done, according to a report.

Man Utd still keen to strengthen in several areas

With their Premier League opener against Arsenal a matter of days away, Man United still remain keen on strengthening in several key areas, and Gary Neville believes his former side’s most important task will be to bring in a new goalkeeper.

Neville is relatively encouraged by the additions Amorim has made up to this point, but added: “If they get a goalkeeper, I think that they could get into the top six, but a lot of things have to go on.”

Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma has recently entered the frame as one of the Red Devils’ main targets, but it remains to be seen whether they are able to sign the Italian, given that they are now planning to break the bank on a midfielder…

Bigger talent than Baleba: INEOS chasing "phenomenal" £100m CM for Man Utd

Manchester United are making another huge move in the transfer market this summer.

Indeed, Man United are expected to make a huge bid for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, but they have also hatched a plan to secure the central midfielder’s signature in a different way.

That is according to a report from The Independent, which states Man United would be willing to use Sancho as a makeweight in negotiations with Brighton, although it is deemed unlikely that the Seagulls will be tempted by a deal of that nature.

Instead, owner Tony Bloom is holding out for the huge sum of £120m, and INEOS are now actively trying to figure out a way of orchestrating the deal, amid pressure from Amorim.

The United boss is said to be pushing for the club’s hierarchy to bring in Baleba, with the manager keen on a new midfielder to fit the team together, and the Brighton star has the best profile of any player on the shortlist.

"Exceptional" Baleba very keen on Old Trafford move

With the defensive midfielder thought to be very keen on joining Amorim’s side, the move could be a formality if United are able to agree a suitable fee with Brighton, although they are driving a very hard bargain with the £120m asking price.

That said, there are some signs the Cameroon international could be worth the huge outlay, having performed extremely well on some key defensive metrics over the past year compared to other midfielders.

Lauded as “exceptional” by scout Ben Mattinson, the 21-year-old is also Premier League proven, which is crucial, given that previous signings, such as Rasmus Hojlund, have failed to adapt to life in England after joining for huge transfer fees.

It seems unlikely that a swap deal for Sancho will be possible, but it is exciting news that Amorim is pushing to get a deal for Baleba over the line.

'Need to sort it out in the ring!' – Wayne Rooney challenged to boxing fight by ex-Premier League star after Man Utd legend continues teasing former keeper over iconic goal he conceded

Wayne Rooney has been challenged to a boxing match by former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny. Manchester United and England legend Rooney is a big fight fan and has previously expressed a desire to lace up a pair of gloves. Kenny is willing to stand on the opposite side of the ring, with the ex-Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers shot-stopper preparing to step through the ropes for an exhibition bout.

  • Getty

Who will Kenny fight on 'A Night to Remember'?

One-time Leeds United and Republic of Ireland custodian Kenny is due to face Curtis Davies at a charity boxing event. ‘A Night to Remember’ will take place on October 18, with David Bentley, Jody Morris, Leroy Lita and Lee Trundle among the other ex-pros to feature on the card.

It is, however, Rooney that Kenny has in his sights. He wants to square off against United’s all-time leading goalscorer after seeing his performance in the iconic clash between QPR and Manchester City – which saw Sergio Aguero score his legendary Premier League title-winning goal – called into question.

  • Rooney asked questions of Aguero's iconic goal

Rooney has previously said of that contest, which saw the English top-flight crown snatched away from United in the most dramatic of circumstances: "Paddy Kenny should have done better for a couple of the goals. City get the second goal and QPR kick it straight back to them and that's never been questioned – I find that strange. Djibril Cisse celebrating after the game with the City players, but yes, listen, it's a historic moment in the Premier League so I'm sure that, if you are not involved as a Manchester United player, that's probably one of the greatest moments in the league."

Kenny responded to those quotes at the time by posting on social media, alongside an image of Aguero scoring his historic winning goal: "Wasn’t even bothered about diving to be fair." He included a laughing face emoji and a couple of fishing rods – as he waited on another bite from Rooney and Co.

Rooney challenge: Kenny ready for a fight

Kenny has now suggested that his differences with Rooney, which remain light hearted, should be settled with a slug fest that allows both men to release some of the tension that has built up since May 2012. He told "He keeps hammering me about that Aguero goal, so I think me and him need to sort it out in the ring. 13 years on, he’s still saying I let the goals in! It might have looked like I let them in but I didn’t!"

Rooney has previously floated the idea of stepping into the ring with Misfits Boxing, with YouTube personality KSI one of their founders. He told prior to taking the reins at Plymouth Argyle in 2024: "They’ve been in touch and asked the question but I think at the minute I want to focus on getting back into management, not boxing."

That stance could be shifted in 2025, with Kenny saying of his preparations for a scrap with Davies: "For eight weeks now I’ve been training, been boxing for four or five weeks and in that time I’ve lost over two stone, which is a massive thing. That was one of the reasons I wanted to get involved, get myself back into shape. It’s for amazing charities, it’s going to be an amazing event down in London, I’m really looking forward to it."

  • Rooney on punditry duty after coaching flops

There is a chance that Rooney could be talked into joining a future event. He no longer has coaching commitments to contend with after seeing his spell at Plymouth cut short after just 25 games. He previously lasted only 83 days in charge of Birmingham, having been taken to St Andrew’s by Tom Brady and Co.

Rooney is now back on punditry duty, with a regular role being filled on Match of the Day. He is also preparing to grace a Disney+ documentary series alongside wife Coleen and their children. Preparations for a boxing fight would deliver intriguing content for that production.

Balbirnie and Tucker fifties give Ireland the upper hand

The visitors struck early in the final innings to leave Zimbabwe at 38 for 3 chasing 292 in Bulawayo

Ekanth08-Feb-2025Ireland are well placed to complete a hat-trick of Test wins after setting Zimbabwe a target of 292 and reducing them to 38 for 3 at stumps. Andy Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker struck fifties with contributions all the way down the order helping them take control of the game in Bulawayo.Richard Ngarava, who took three of the last four wickets to fall, finished with a four-four; but it was the part-time spin of Wessly Madhevere that removed Balbirnie and Andy McBrine – Ireland’s top scorers of the second and first innings respectively.Balbinie started the day with Campher and the duo grew their partnership from 37 to 75 with relative ease. There were nicks – like in the first over of the day – that weren’t carrying, the funky fields from Jonathan Campbell weren’t forcing batters into shots, and Blessing Muzarababi’s five-over opening spell was seen off without loss.Campher picked up two boundaries off Trevor Gwandu – a stylish whip and a technically sound straight drive – before the bowler found his length to quieten the batter and then nick him off after drinks.Ireland were 121 for 2 – a great entry point for Harry Tector, who got off a pair and got into his innings cautiously. Balbirnie, meanwhile, coasted along at his own pace to bring up a 106-ball fifty. He nearly dragged one on in the 34th over and weathered an examination by spin to take the lead up to 142 at lunch. The spin of Campbell and Madhevere took hold after the break; first with the former ripping a legbreak to beat Tector’s full-faced block and trap him lbw, then the latter ripping an offbreak to beat Balbirnie’s flick to do the same.Paul Stirling, who was more generous in peppering attack with defence, swept Madhevere over square leg for six and heaved Campbell wide of mid-on for four. He was out caught down leg, trying to pull Muzarabani fine, but was unhappy with the decision.Tucker was off to a quick start too. He swept Campbell for two fours in the 59th over and consolidated after Stirling fell. He stitched handy 39-run and 23-run stands with McBrine and Mark Adair as Zimbabwe kept at it with spin before the second new ball became available.Trevor Gwandu had Curtis Campher caught behind•Zimbabwe CricketMcBrine was troubled by Madhevere, who beat his outside edge first (71st over) then snagged it for Nick Welch at slip to complete the catch (75th). Adair slogged a six off Madhevere and was comfortable against the old ball but edged two of the five he faced against the new ball, the second of which went to Takudzwanashe Kaitano’s hands at slip. It left Ireland 261 for 7 at tea.Ngarava toyed with Barry McCarthy before knocking him over with a well-executed slower ball. Gwandu got a shortish ball to skid past Craig Young’s defences but that inconsistent bounce might be something that comes back to haunt Zimbabwe soon. Tucker and Matthew Humphreys, the last pair to bat, did run and walk along the danger area of the pitch a couple of times, but they were not pulled up by the umpires.Tucker brought up fifty by pulling Ngarava and then flayed him over extra cover. But when he charged and tried to slap him over the off side two overs later, the top edge took the ball straight to cover. Ireland, who had conceded a seven-run lead, were all out for 298.Zimbabwe came out to bat with an hour left in the day and McCarthy induced an edge from Ben Curran in the sixth over to have the opener caught behind for the second time in the game. A length ball that went away was set up by a few coming in to find the edge.Adair ended Kaitano’s promising start, which included three boundaries, with another set-up. This time with outswingers before slowing up a fullish ball to beat the inside edge and hit the stumps.Humphreys trapped Welch, Zimbabwe’s top scorer in the first innings, lbw with an arm ball that beat his flick. It brought Gwandu for nightwatch duty and he survived 12 balls to stumps. Brian Bennett, in at No. 4, had a close shave in the final over. The highest successful chase in the fourth innings in a Test hosted by Zimbabwe is 192. So, the hosts will need to break that record if they are to win.

Personal terms done: Arsenal edge close to late signing Gyokeres will love

It’s a brilliant time to be an Arsenal fan at the moment.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won their first two games of the Premier League season without conceding a goal.

Moreover, the Gunners looked sensational against Leeds United on the weekend, and Viktor Gyokeres got off the mark with a sublime solo goal and an emphatic penalty.

The Swedish goalscorer could be the difference-maker for Arsenal this season, and in exciting news, the club are closing in on another signing who could make him even more effective.

Arsenal target dream signing for Gyokeres

While fans will always want another signing, and understandably so, Arsenal have already done an excellent job in the transfer market this summer.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

Despite it being his first window in the job, Sporting Director Andrea Berta has made seven additions to Arteta’s side so far, with the most exciting being Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze and, of course, the goalscoring extraordinaire, Gyokeres.

However, the North Londoners are not done there, as they’re now closing in on another superb signing, one that could help get even more out of the prolific Swede.

At least that is according to a recent report from transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, who has claimed that Arsenal are still very interested in Piero Hincapié.

More than that, the Italian journalist has revealed that the Gunners have agreed personal terms with the player and are now accelerating talks with Bayer Leverkusen.

Interestingly, Romano has claimed that the North Londoners’ preference would be a loan with an obligation to buy, which perhaps isn’t that surprising when other reports are claiming the Ecuadorian’s release clause stands at £52m.

However this deal is eventually structured, it will be worth it for Arsenal as Hincapié is an incredible player and someone who could make Gyokeres even better.

Why Hincapie would be incredible for Gyokeres

So, even though Gyokeres can drift out wide at times and even drop back to help with link-up play at times, he is fundamentally a striker who likes to spend most of his time in and around the penalty area, something he showcased against Leeds United last weekend.

This is also clearly evident when examining his shot map from last season, as the vast majority of them came from inside the penalty area.

In other words, to maximise his effectiveness, Arsenal need to get the ball to him in these dangerous areas, either through carrying the ball up the pitch or passing it into these areas.

Fortunately, these are two things Hincapie is brilliant at doing.

The Leverkusen star may be a defender, and a great one at that, but one of his real strengths is his ability to maraud up the byline and fire in crosses for his teammates to get on the end of.

In fact, he has become so adept at doing this that respected analyst Ben Mattinon has described him as “a left-sided Ben White,” which, given the Englishman’s partnership with Bukayo Saka on the right, should excite fans.

Don’t just take our word for it, though, as the 23-year-old dynamo’s underlying numbers also paint the picture of a rampaging full-back who could get the ball up to the striker with relative ease.

Ultimately, while he is no slouch when it comes to defending, Hincapie’s biggest strength is his ability to fly up the pitch and get the ball into dangerous areas, which is also why he would be a dream signing for Gyokeres.

Tottenham now ready to launch game-changing move for Eze's England rival

With Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal continuing to do battle over Eberechi Eze’s signature, the Lilywhites have reportedly set their sights on an impressive alternative who is fighting with the Crystal Palace star for an England place.

Latest on Tottenham's Eze pursuit

With the Premier League season now underway, Spurs have just two weeks to strengthen Thomas Frank’s side. So far, the North London club have welcomed Joao Palhinha, Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus, with the latter particularly impressing against Paris Saint-Germain. Following the news that James Maddison is likely to miss the majority of the campaign, however, they must return to the transfer market to welcome one last star.

Having his own say on potential incomings recently, Frank told reporters: “We are definitely in the market in general. Of course, when players get a long term injury we need to look into that.”

The former Brentford boss will be well aware just how important it is to add a crucial creative spark back to his side in Maddison’s absence, and one player who would add that in abundance is Eze.

The Crystal Palace star has been the subject of a transfer battle between both Tottenham and Arsenal this summer, but it now looks as though it is the Lilywhites who are in pole position ahead of their North London rivals.

As Fabrizio Romano reported, Tottenham are preparing formal talks with Palace over a move to sign Eze and the player himself is now keen on the move. But even as all signs point towards Frank’s side, those in North London are still reportedly considering an alternative option.

Tottenham ready to make Rogers move

According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham are now ready to make their move for Morgan Rogers if Aston Villa open the exit door amid their PSR struggles this summer. The England midfielder is seen as a game-changing signing in North London, but whether the Villans intend to sell their star man may well be another question entirely.

In terms of Eze alternatives, Rogers should sit top of Spurs’ shortlist if they are beaten to the Palace star’s signature by Arsenal. The Aston Villa midfielder went stride for stride with his England teammate last season and even outperformed him in total output.

Villa boss Unai Emery is well aware of the talent that he has on his hands too, having previously told reporters: “He is a player. He is intelligent. He understands football. When we analysed and we signed him, it was because we analysed his ability to adapt quickly to our structure.”

With a matter of weeks left until the transfer window slams shut, Rogers could yet emerge as one to keep an eye on.

Saudi club pushing to sign Chelsea star with post-deadline bid made

Chelsea’s transfer activity for 2025 is over with the passing of the UK’s deadline day, at least in terms of incomings, but it’s an entirely different story when it comes to potential exits.

The transfer windows in Saudi Arabia and Turkey are still open for business, meaning certain players could still leave Stamford Bridge over the coming week.

Chelsea have already raised £288 million in outgoings, allowing them to make a small £3 million profit despite spending £285 million on new signings this summer (BBC) – and their profits could yet increase as the futures of certain ‘bomb squad’ members remain up in the air.

Raheem Sterling is chief among Enzo Maresca’s unwanted men who failed to secure a move away before the September 1 cut-off, and BlueCo will be desperate to rid themselves of his £325,000-per-week wages at the nearest opportunity.

Despite some reports of Sterling being in advanced talks to leave Chelsea at stages during the summer, a move away for the 30-year-old never materialised, and time is running out for the forward to leave so he can attempt to stake a claim in Thomas Tuchel’s 2026 World Cup squad.

Like Chilwell, who was on around £200,000-per-week and deemed surplus by Maresca, you can’t help but wonder if Chelsea will make the decision to cut their losses and terminate Sterling’s deal so he can leave as a free agent.

Another player who’s firmly out of Maresca’s plans and saw a transfer away fail pre-September is defender Axel Disasi.

The Frenchman enjoyed a solid loan spell at Aston Villa during the second half of 2024/2025, attracting summer interest from the likes of Villa, Wolves, Sunderland, Newcastle and Juventus, but none of the sides stepped up their interest.

According to the BBC, Disasi rejected moves to Bournemouth and West Ham too, but with options in Europe now growing thin, a move to Saudi could be his best bet.

Neom SC make bid for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi

According to a report by Chelsea News, SPL side Neom SC are pushing to sign Disasi and have made a cheeky £17 million offer for the 27-year-old.

While Disasi would prefer to remain on the continent, his choices are to potentially accept Neom’s advances or spend another four months sitting on the side at Cobham.

Chelsea apparently want closer to £25 million if they’re to green-light a sale, and Disasi’s hesitation over a switch to the Middle East means this transfer still has some way to go.

Turkey is also still an option for the ex-Monaco man, but as things stand, there has been no suggestion of interest from that part of Europe.
