Jake Humphrey responds to news that Matt Jarvis is to leave Norwich City

[ad_pod ]Matt Jarvis was one of several players released by Norwich City ahead of their return to the Premier League.

This post prompted a response on Twitter from BT Sports presenter and massive Norwich City fan Jake Humphrey.

The 33-year-old spent three-and-a-half-years at Norwich but only made 21 appearances because of a 31-month period of time out injured.

Jarvis joined Norwich from West Ham United – initially on loan – in September 2015 but in the following January the Canaries made the move permanent for £2.5m.

This brought an end to Jarvis’s rather unsuccessful spell in East London with the Hammers, where he made 90 appearances and only scored six goals as well as providing eight assists.

Jarvis had joined West Ham for £10m in August 2012 from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Middlesbrough born man made his name at Wolves during a five-year-stint in the Black Country.

He was known for his direct running and ability to whip in an excellent cros.

Jarvis put in three solid seasons with Wolves in the Premier League from 2009-12. In that time he made 108 appearances, scoring 13 times and registering 19 assists.

He leaves Norwich knowing that his only chance of regular first-team football will probably be with a side in League One.

The Verdict: Is Edin Dezko good enough to be Arnautovic’s replacement at West Ham?

[ad_pod ]

West Ham could well be looking for a replacement for the underperforming Marko Arnautovic this summer, so should they sign Edin Dzeko?

According to Sky Sports the Hammers have been offered the chance to sign the ex-Man City ace, while Italian media have claimed he has a choice between the Irons and Inter Milan, although he favours a move to the latter.

In light of these two factors, three Football FanCast writers give their verdicts on whether or not Dzeko would be good enough to replace the reigning Hammer of the Year for Manuel Pellegrini’s men…

Billy Meyers

“Obviously, Edin Dzeko is a forward of real pedigree, but at 33 years of age, he certainly isn’t the answer to replace Marko Arnautovic. If West Ham did sign the Bosnian, they would perhaps get one, or at a push, two good seasons out of him, before struggling to offload him whilst he’s on presumably huge wages. Must steer clear.”

Matt Dawson

“For me, Edin Dzeko is someone West Ham must stay away from. Although a link up with Pellegrini could be tasty, the striker isn’t getting any younger and as such, West Ham should be looking elsewhere. We’ve seen with Javier Hernandez that going to a striker whose best years are beyond him isn’t such a good idea. The Hammers need to look for younger and fresher talent to help provide them with goals.”

Harry Sherlock

“Absolutely, yes. Edin Dzeko is exactly the type of player West Ham need to be looking at. They don’t have the money to compete with the very best clubs for the very best strikers but Dzeko is a striker of genuine renown and he would surely love a return to the Premier League. He doesn’t have to play every game but, when he does, he can be backed to score.”

West Ham: Che Adams is too perfect for Manuel Pellegrini to pass up on

If there’s one thing West Ham will be in need of during the summer transfer window, it’s a new starting striker.

None of the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Lucas Perez and Javier Hernandez have overly convinced, with Manuel Pellegrini set to go for a more youthful approach for first-team players next season who also won’t take up much of the wage bill.

It will be a positive change in direction for the club, who have prided themselves in recent seasons in signing experienced names for big wages, which hasn’t exactly gone to plan, and a player who could signal the end of this old transfer strategy is Birmingham City striker Che Adams.

The 22-year-old attacker was linked by the Daily Star with to a move to the Hammers in the final days of the January transfer window this year, however, no deal materialised and West Ham were unable to bring in a striker of any sorts, so this summer, Pellegrini would be wise to go back in for Adams.

The Birmingham striker has been a sensation for Gary Monk’s side this season, scoring 22 goals and assisting five and earning the nickname of ‘Chele’ from the Blues’ faithful, as well as being compared to the original Ronaldo by former teammate Matt Baker.

Adams has shown he has the ability to be a player who can play in the top-flight, and with Birmingham have an unremarkable season at best marred by a nine-point reduction, the striker could do with a change of scenery, and West Ham would be perfect.

The 22-year-old is still young in the game and can grow into a real Premier League standard striker should he make the leap to West Ham, and being coached by Manuel Pellegrini could turn Adams into a terrifying attacker for the Hammers.

West Ham fans, would Adams be a good addition to the team? Let us know!

Husillos signing: West Ham fans urge club to sign Wesley Moraes ahead of Newcastle

[ad_pod ]

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sports Witness), West Ham United could move for Club Brugge forward Wesley Moraes this summer.

Newcastle United have also been linked with the attacker in the same report.

And a number of their fans have been on social media offering their views.

The West Ham supporters have now had their say on the 22-year-old, who has netted 38 times in 130 appearances for Club Brugge in all-competitions.

The Hammers are expected to move for at least one striker this summer with Andy Carroll set to leave on a free transfer.

In this era of ‘big 6’ dominance, has finishing 7th become as good as winning a trophy? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…

There remains uncertainty surrounding the futures of Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez, meanwhile, which should lead the capital club into the transfer market.

Moraes would surely be open to a move to the Premier League this summer with the likes of West Ham and Newcastle beginning to circle

And a number of the Hammers faithful are keen for their club to secure his signature.

Leeds United: Bielsa must consider starting Ryan Edmondson against Derby

Today’s play-off semi-final first-leg clash between Leeds United and Derby County has all the ingredients needed to be an enthralling affair, doesn’t it?

After the fallout surrounding the spy-gate scandal grabbed national headlines earlier this season, it is safe to say that there is no love lost between Marcelo Bielsa and Frank Lampard who will be both wanting to secure a positive result at Pride Park heading into the return fixture on May 15th.

Although the Whites finished the regular season nine points ahead of the Rams, they will know that if they are not at their very best at the weekend, their hopes of securing promotion to the Premier League could be shattered.

Having seen his side fail to record a victory in any of their previous four league games, Bielsa is in desperate need of one of his players to step up to the mark.

With Patrick Bamford serving the second match of his suspension for deceiving the referee in Leeds’ clash with Aston Villa last month, the former Lazio boss could place his trust in Ryan Edmondson to deliver the goods against Derby.

Although the 17-year-old has only made two senior appearances for the Whites since joining the club in 2017 from York City, his outstanding form for the under-23’s this season has seen him fire in 19 goals in 31 appearances.

By selecting Edmondson, Leeds could benefit from the element of surprise as the Rams will not have seen him in action before and therefore would not have studied the strengths and weaknesses of his game.

With Tyler Roberts expected to start in a deeper role on Saturday and Kemar Roofe clearly struggling for any sort of form since making his return from injury in April, it could be worth taking the risk with Edmondson as if it pays off, the Whites could move one step closer to securing promotion from Championship.

What do you think Leeds fans? Should Bielsa start Edmondson against Derby at the weekend? Or is it too much of a risk to take in such an important game? Let us know below.

Manchester United fans divided on pursuit of former Celtic striker

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United fans on Twitter are divided on the potential signing of Moussa Dembele from Lyon this summer.

United are searching for reinforcements up front with Romelu Lukaku linked to Inter Milan and according to Get French Football News, the Red Devils have set their sights on Dembele by making an initial bid of €46m (£40.5m).

The 22-year old striker only joined Lyon last summer from Celtic, but he is already being mentioned in connection with a move away from the Ligue 1 side after an excellent debut season that saw him score 15 goals and add five assists.

Lukaku managed just 12 Premier League goals for United and could be sacrificed should the club receive a suitable offer.

It is unclear if Lyon will accept United’s first offer, but either way, supporters are split on whether the France U21 international is truly the right player to pursue.

Wolves fans have a mixed opinion on the future of Bright Enobakhare

[ad_pod ]

Bright Enobakhare has had a thoroughly successful loan spell with League One side Coventry in the second half of the campaign.

His performances have been excellent for the Sky Blues and, despite only being with the club since January, he was named their young player of the year.

However, while discussing whether he should get another chance at Molineux on Twitter, Wolves supporters were split on the future of the 21-year-old.

One fan said that by keeping him around he could save the club £20m in future investment in the transfer market. Two other supporters meanwhile made comparisons between him and Adama Traore, claiming that Enobakhare had the same dribbling ability but a better final ball.

However, there were less convincing responses too with a further tweet suggesting Niall Ennis was higher up in the pecking order and another commenting that he wasn’t ready yet.

In 18 matches since arriving at the Ricoh, Enobakhare has scored six goals. He was able to play a bit part throughout Wolves’ Championship winning campaign last year, playing in 21 matches.

Here’s the best of the Twitter discussion surrounding the Nigerian’s future:

Leeds United: Bielsa must give Mateusz Bogusz a chance to shine next season

Although Leeds United’s signing of Kiko Casilla in January created a lot of buzz amongst their supporters, it could be argued that their other acquisition during the transfer window could end up being a fantastic move by director of football Victor Orta.

Having been impressed by Mateusz Bogusz’s performances for Polish side Ruch Chorzow, the Spaniard decided to swoop for the 17-year-old after consulting with Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Since making the switch to West Yorkshire, the midfielder has established himself as a key player for the club’s under-23 side and played a defining role in helping them win the Professional Development League North title in March.

Despite being made to wait for his first-team debut by Bielsa, it is surely only a matter of time before Bogusz is given the opportunity to prove himself for Leeds having been included in all four of their previous match-day squads.

An outstanding talent, the fact that Premier League champions Manchester City were reportedly interested in bringing the midfielder to the Etihad Stadium (via HITC) suggests that he has all the ingredients needed to become a superstar for Leeds in the future.

Speaking about Bogusz’s qualities to Polish news outlet Przeglad Sportowy, Citizens’ scout Jakub Bokiej admitted: “Mateusz, despite his young age, is so intelligent and technically developed that he often avoids contact with his opponent without losing the ball thanks to good ball control or directional admission.

You can also see that he has made enormous physical progress in the last 3-4 months,”

“Leeds United is currently the perfect place to grow.

“A great training centre, a coach with whom many players from the world leaders and two Poles would like to work – Mateusz Klich and Kamil Miazek, thanks to whom Bogusz’ acclimatisation has been optimal.

I can only regret that he did not go to Manchester City.”

With the likes of Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton benefitting significantly over the past 10 months from Bielsa’s willingness to place his trust in Leeds’ younger players, Bogusz will be looking to follow in their footsteps next season.

Already capped at under-19 level by Poland, the midfielder could end up outshining his team-mates over the coming years if he manages to stay on the right path for the Whites.

What do you think Leeds fans? Does Bogusz deserve the chance to impress next season? Or will he benefit more from playing under-23 football in the upcoming campaign? Let us know below.
